Expanding one of Calgary's busiest malls
The Chinook Centre Expansion is a two-storey addition to the northeast corner of the existing facility. The project involved building two levels of cast-in-place concrete underground parking and two levels of structural steel mall addition.
The new corridor tie-ins required blending the old with the new, and part of the renovation included creating a clerestory at the interface locations. Construction started in April 2008 and was completed in Fall 2010. All work was completed while the mall remained open to customers.
T&M was responsible for all mechanical services, including sheet metal, sprinklers, insulation, building management systems, 3D modelling, commissioning and quality assurance.
