Project Details

The Alberta Children’s Hospital is a world-class pediatric health care facility located on the University of Calgary’s West Campus. It is the largest public hospital for sick children in the Prairie Provinces and is the first free standing pediatric facility to be built in Canada in over 20 years. The Alberta Children’s Hospital includes supports for families such as sleeping facilities for parents in each patient room, a babysitting service for siblings of patients, a sacred space for spiritual activities, a pet visitation room, and the Healing Gardens.

The hospital accommodates approximately 60,000 visits per year. Doctors, nurses, parents and children contributed to the design of the hospital.

Trotter & Morton’s electrical team was brought on early in the design phase to provide pre-construction recommendations and assist with the electrical design, scope, and budget.

Trotter & Morton was responsible for all Electrical (Z32-2 compliant), Voice/Data, Fire Alarm, Distribution, Nurse Call, and Patient Wandering.

In 2014, Trotter & Morton was the electrical contractor for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Expansion adding 14 beds to the existing Intensive Care Unit.
