The Bonnybrook Waste Water Treatment Facility was originally built in 1932. Significant modifications and upgrades have been planned by the City of Calgary to increase the facilities treatment capacity and meet growing demands into the mid-2030s. The facilities average capacity was 396 ML/d with a peak capacity of 1,069ML/d, serving 950,000 people. The upgrades added an additional 135ML/d (average) and 1,390ML/d (peak) capacity to the facility and it can now serve 1.37million people.
