Grand Rapids Edmonton South Interconnect is the last stop on the Grand Rapids pipeline before it hits the market hub in Edmonton, Alberta. The Edmonton South Interconnect site connects the Heartland South pipeline section with 3rd party tie-ins in Edmonton for both Bitumen Blend and Diluent.

Whaler was the prime contractor on site and was responsible for the Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical construction for the sending and receiving facility. The winter work portion of this project included installing an underground shoring system for the new underground sump tank and tie-ins to the new 36inch pipeline and bypass line.

This project was completed safely on schedule and on budget resulting in a continued positive working relationship with TC Energy which led to additional contracts being awarded.
