The 57-year-old Iona Island Wastewater Treatment plant treats more than 200 billion liters of wastewater a year from over 600,000 residents. The upgrades to the plant were in collaboration with 14 first nations, regional agencies, municipalities, and environmental organizations to ensure the health and biodiversity of the Fraser River estuary and Salish Sea.
Trotter & Morton was responsible for the mechanical scope within the newly constructed main pump house and grit building including heat tracing, plumbing fixtures, gravity thickener, air handling units, pumps, and dampers.
