The new Health Sciences Centre at Vancouver Island University is the first phase in a major $75 million-dollar redevelopment project on campus. The 4-Storey Health Sciences Centre will house teaching labs for nursing, health and chemistry programs, and an environmental research laboratory.
In order to reduce carbon emissions, the Health Sciences Centre utilizes a geo-exchange system that uses existing infrastructure from the decommissioned Wakesiah Coal Mine’s below the Campus to heat and cool the building.
