Trotter & Morton Building Technologies is named a 2017 Silver Award winner in the Mechanical Contractor (over $8 million) category for our work on the Iona Island WWTP Solids Handling Upgrade project. This year, the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) recognized 45 companies as Silver Award winners in 15 categories and from 50 project submissions with a total construction value of over $1.1 billion. For the Mechanical Division, it is the first Silver Award nomination in the over $8 million category and the fifth nomination for the VRCA Awards of Excellence.
The Iona Island WWTP Solids Handling Upgrade project began in 2014 and included the addition of screening and de-gritting equipment to remove sand and other debris from the liquid waste stream. In addition, improvements to the digester mixing systems in the 50-year-old facility's four digesters will improve digester gas production that can generate electricity and heat for the plant.
On October 25, one Silver Award winner from each category will be selected as the Gold Award winner at the 29th VRCA Awards of Excellence gala in Vancouver.
