VDC – Leading Technologies Being Used at Trotter & Morton

VDC client review model and Fabrication at our Maple Ridge, BC shop

Trotter and Morton is proud to announce that we are adding Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) to our list of services. Melvin Newman will be leading the charge as Director Preconstruction/VDC. We at Trotter and Morton are excited to take a leadership role at the cutting edge of this technology.

VDC will utilize the latest technology from AutoDesk, Trimble and Procore. This will allow us to deliver fully detailed fabrication-ready models to the general contractors and clients, streamlining the process from design to delivery.

One of the hardest parts of construction is making sure that you are able to come in on budget and on time. Using VDC we have the capabilities to coordinate with project architects and engineers to provide value added construct-ability and cost-saving measures.

Some of our new capabilities include:

  • Generation of Level of Detail 400 (LOD400) fabrication models that can be rapidly verified and built.
  • In-house 3D Scanning, which allows us to scan existing conditions with a high level of accuracy for review and exploration off-site by experts in any location of Trotter and Morton.
  • Enhanced shop drawing and detailing

Using these new technologies, we are able to bring all the resources of the Trotter and Morton group of companies to our client’s projects, including our leading mechanical, electrical and controls experience, along with our 20,000 square foot fabrication facility and our ability to fully integrate in the BIM/VDC processes.
